Annaspop is most likely a high school dropout. He's unscathed by knowledge and understanding.

    • Just stupid high school sayings "wall street , main street"
      no action
      still blaming other people,
Jealous people, not will to invest in themselves or work, trying to get hard working people's money
The government picking on wall street is the pot calling the kettle black. The government is even worst than any wall street or banks, remember social security? , Put NASA on affordable wind and solar energy for the home, Wasn't Obama a senator or did he just get born in 2008? "mission accomplished is much better than a Monica ewinski scandal oh can't say that cause its a Dem thing.
why mess with health care, fix Social security, fix government waste first.

    • You and I have debated here before. We disagree on just about everything I think, but it's always been clear to me that you don't write or think from anger or hate. We've got some fundamental differences, but you present your opinions respectfully and stick to the issues rather than attacking people.

Course, I'm always all optimistic that I'll be able to change your mind on the issues...oh well...

But I'll miss your political postings believe it or not. JNJ's been one of the more tempered boards re. politics. Seems about 50/50 here politics versus discussion about the actual company, and I can live with that. As opposed to, say, the GE board, where there are about 10 new messages of Obama or Republican Party hatred added to the mess every minute...

Anyways, we're all in this together, and times are difficult. We liberals strongly want good companies like JNJ to succeed. We're all on the same side on that one.

    • What's up with all this "last eight years" stuff. The Democrats have been in control of Congress since the 2006 elections. They were in control of both houses of Congress for over 50 years before that until 1994.

How do you "redistribute" money by letting the people who actually worked and earned the money keep more of it by reducing their tax rate by 4%??

The Democrats take money that has been collected via the Income Tax and then give that same money to those who pay NO INCOME TAXES through the EARNED INCOME CREDIT.

Sounds like a sweet deal to me. ROFLMAO.......

I strongly suggest that everyone evaluate their financial condition and prepare for the coming disaster that will be unfolding over the next 18-24 months.

Anytime that a solid, diversified company with a strong balance sheet like JNJ suffers a decline in stock price from $72 to $47 in a relatively short period of time, there are more powerful forces at work.

This a supposed to be a board discussing JNJ. I will no longer post anything political. It's a COMPLETE waste of time and energy.

    • Yes, you are correct. Thomas Jefferson's throughts and views are no longer relevant. The Declaration of Independence is no longer relevant. Wow.......I'll need to ponder that one.

    • Just to correct a typo, where I wrote:

"I am not in favor of giving money to those willing to work."

      I meant to write:

"I am not in favor of giving money to those UNwilling to work."

And I wrote that in agreement with the Jefferson quote on that issue.

    • First, as a point of clarity, I actually never said I'm conservative. I embrace my liberalism, and I'm a passionate Obama supporter for it. What I said was that I have genuine respect for TRUE conservatives. A true conservative is someone who places an absolutely paramount priority on balancing the budget, and tries to achieve that goal by limiting government expenditures. Reagan and GWB both exploded government budgets. They still reduced taxes, which is also on the conservative agenda, but their desire to reduce taxes but expand the government caused them to cast aside any aspiration of ever balancing the budget.

What differs between liberals and these neocons is that neocon government expenditure focuses on military spending, and aiding big corporations. Liberal spending focuses on schools, hospitals, and infrastructure.

      On Wright versus Obama:

      "God damn America!"

      "I hope President Obama fails."

Both are, on their face, outrageous, anti-American statements. Ultra-leftists defend that Wright didn't REALLY mean that he wants god to damn America. He just wanted to emphasize that America's done some terrible, perhaps evil things.

Ultra-rightists defend that Rush doesn't want America to fail, he wants something called "Obama's socialist agenda" to fail.

Both Wright and Rush could have made their statements in intellectual, non-inflamatory manners. They both chose to use shock and awe instead of reasoned discourse. Obama cast Wright away as an extremist who is contrary to what he wants for the country. The Republicans embrace Limbaugh as their maybe-leader.

Jefferson was a brilliant man, and we do well to remember the words of brilliant men. But I don't admire everything about him--he was a slave owner at a time when "corrupt Europe" had already cast aside slavery, for instance. I disagree with his disdain for cities. I am not in favor of giving money to those willing to work.

But did you know this--Karl Marx was against giving money to people who are not willing to work? He called them the lumpenproletariat, which was the class of poor who are poor by choice. He held this group in disdain.

There is wisdom to be taken from a great many historical sources, as long as we open our minds.

    • You are the worst kind of hypocrite. An obvious one. The GOP and spent the last 8 years redistributing wealth faster and farther to the top already richest 5% than in any prior period in history. They did it openly and with deliberate policies. It caused this disaster because the middle and lower clas monetary stability and foundations were removed and redistributed to the top.

You just don't like it now that the money is flowing the other way. But to act like redistributing wealth is something new that was not happening before makes you a hypocrite.

    • Thomas Jefferson lived in very different times from the modern world. His views were relevent then. Taking select statements out of the context of his era and writings to support your point of view is living in the past. At least President Obama is looking at the future and attempting to deal with the real problems we are facing.

    • You say you are a conservative, but you constantly support the liberal agenda. Limbaugh is NOT Jeremiah Wright. Wright is an idiot. "GOD DAMN AMERICA". Yeah., Wright... and Obama sat in the pew and listened to him for YEARS...

      Jefferson reminds us:

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
      Thomas Jefferson

When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe.
      Thomas Jefferson

To take from one because it is thought that his own industry and that of his father’s has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association—the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.
      Thomas Jefferson

I think myself that we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious.

      Thomas Jefferson

Mr.Obama is NOT exhibiting leadership. He is in the early days of redistributing wealth. History has shown that it does not work.

If you think that he is being positive and talking up the potential that this nation has, then you are not listening.

So far, I am very disappointed. "No EARMARKS!!" I guess that means "under 10,000 earmarks" in any one bill.

AND....MY BUDGET IS BALANCED, In fact, I have a substantial surplus that I have worked very hard to accumulate over the last 30 years.

We are more than half way down the SLIPPERY SLOPE. God help us.
