First of all, the typical trading range of JNJ is less than a dollar. We can look at the daily charts in yahoo.
Second, I find it hard to believe a daytrader is interested in making $1,000 with a $50,000 investment.
If you want to daytrade, I have some recommendations. With $50,000, you can do better than making $1,000. I have daytraded TBR, AMZN, AOL, and YHOO. But I would not recommend daytrading JNJ. I have JNJ in my porfolio as a long term hold.
Let's say you daytraded amzn on Friday and bought 10 December 210 calls options of AMZN at 23. Your cost is $23,000. Amzn went up 6 dollars on Friday. So by investing $23,000, you would have made 6 x 1000 = $6,000.
