Just like they legalized alcohol to bring us out of depression
I agree, well said. MONEY talks to our government more than anything else. They WILL WANT THEIR FINGER IN THIS MONEY PIE.
Plus, manufactoring jobs, distribution jobs, packaging jobs, lobbyists jobs, employment opportunities on several fronts. Several tax income fronts also. History WILL repeat itself. Medicinal use especially has been proven time and time again.
The GOVERNMENT already has its finger in the money pie. With keeping things illegal there is plenty of work for Government employees. Police, court workers, prison workers. This is why just about every politician and cop from the top to the bottom is against passing prop 19.
The REAL MONEY is in the income tax for employees who grown, distribute, package. Plus, to buy it there will be a tax premium that make taxes on gasoline and cigarettes look cheap. That beats non-priority arrests revenue any day.
I disagree, it would cut down on the basically time consuming, not priority arrests and leave time for the really bad crimes. The heroin and meth crimes. It isn't marijuana tying up the ocurts. It is meth and heroin, murder, foreclosures, etc. There are more arrests each year for speeding than there are for the marijuana trade.
