Sorry for changing names on you in the last post. I was checking my va_tonyc email account and forgot to switch back to my investor persona (easy_money006).

I grew up and attended Colleges in NJ and still have family there, a cousin and his wife are even EMTs, I believe (in Brick, NJ).

Retirement is fairly busy for me too. My half-time position as a science advisor at a professional society challenges my brain cells and allows me to travel to a half-dozen or so of their sponsored conferences yearly (held in exotic locales). I am also Editor of one of their journals. On off-days, I spend time at the gym and with my 7 grand-kids (oldest is 7 - two live in Clinton, NJ).

I'm still holding my VZ stock because my cost basis is practically $0 and the dividends are habit forming.

      Best regards

      Tony

    • Yes you can, get involved. You make a difference. Also, no need to be nasty.

    • Tony,
I am retired. Used Arpanet in Silicon Valley. I am a West Coaster living in NJ. I work now full time, and am an EMS Officer and EMT. I also coach my grand kids sports teams. Full retirement and I did not get along. I started investing again in the old Bell System in January - sold Lucent at $55 or so. I believe that former GTEers are having a very positive impact on Verizon. It costs money to make money, hope you get your $35 back.

When ever I get concerned with this great country I look at the kids who volunteer for Rescue and Fire. They are wonderful. Tonight we are cutting a couple of cars. Many of these kids volunteered for Iraq and have come back. Their tune is much different than the medias. So people can talk their Republican and Democrat, I just talk people. Couldn't watch the videos yesterday and am very concerned about those we sent to ground zero. And those we sent to New Orleans and other sites.

Used to recruit in the beltway. Worst arrogant interviews were former Clinton staff members.

      Investor.

      Best Regards,

      Dan

    • Not your cross to bear, is it? You live here but you can't control this. You didn't make it, you can't cure it. Good to remember that even the most awful events are being kept well by One who can. Fear not, and enjoy the day!

No offense taken. If you were playing on the Arpanet in 77, you must be a retired/ex-fed like me. I'm semi-retired at present, currently working part-time at a non-profit. I hold some VZ stock mostly out of habit. I picked up some GTE stock through a profit share plan when I worked for them over 40 years ago. GTE, of course merged with Bell-Atlantic to become VZ, and my $70/share GTE is now $35/share VZ.

Wow. Dinner with Ken Fisher. You must be a close friend or a major investor.

Good luck with all your investments.

      Best regards,

      Tony

    • must be right, how did Gore's home state vote?
