    September Dividend Increase?

Any guess on how much VZ will kick up the dividend next month? I can't see it going to $0.53, but possibly $0.51, maybe $0.52/share/qtr.

The Company has raised the dividend without fail every September for the past several years, so I don't think it's a question of 'if', but rather a question of 'how much'...

It was a 2.6% raise in 2011, 2.6% raise in 2010, (unknown) raise to $1.90/share in 2009, 7% raise in 2008, and an earlier raise in 2007. If they raise on the same schedule they have for the past 5 years (early September announcement),a nd if they increse it the same 2.6% they've done for the past couple years, it's a $0.052 annual increase...

    Any thoughts?

    • Imo, they will raise the dividend by one penny per quarter and will announce the increase sometime this month.

    • 3% raise from $2.00/yr to $2.06/yr

    • I'll guess .525

    • if they raise it .01 I get almost 80 bucks a year yippee!

    • They might wait till after the election to make a dividend change. You know, make sure That One isn't going to put a crimp in their business plans. After all, Verizon didn't build their network, somebody else did; and Verizon will need the cash to pay to fix it...... ;-)

    • I'm not sure raising the div is the way to go this time. My belief is that VZ should concentrate all its cash flow on paying down its debt or adding to its cash position. My thoughts are that the issue with VOD will be coming up again within the next 2 years due to continued recession in Europe and England. If VOD were forced or decided to sell (maybe to buy T-mobile). VZ would have the cash or credit access to capital markets to fund the purchase.

    • I think that 52 cents is a reasonable boost to the VZ dividend.

    • Zilch, NADA , ZERO---they need all the call for operations, healthcare and pensions, and also to pay back DEBT!!!.
