Verizon keeps emphasizing safety but what about this hurricane?
My garage is located in a mandatory evacuation area in nyc. Verizon wants me to show up tomorrow with the subways and buses shut down closed. So I'm going to risk my safety to serve the customer and break the law to.
Take care of your family and then go to work. When I started working at NY Tel 50 years ago they gave you a ID card and a civil defence ID card to pass police lines in an emergency. Did we want to be there, maybe not but we were proud to be out there helping the public. I did this for $69.50 per week not for the money your getting.
I worked for Verizon for 37 years, and they could care less about their employees. When there is a state of emergency they always made us go out and work. If people got stopprd by the police and given a ticket the company never paid said tickets.
