Remote possibility. It would be a long drawn out negotiation, just like the one been going on with VZ for probably over a year informally. I think it would be a much tougher task with anyone else. If deal with someone else doesn't work, they would get a take it or leave it from vz.
Agreed. May end this at 110. Vod wants this to happen more than vz. Vz still calls the shots and controls divi. Vod knows it is time to get it done. If it holds out for too much it loses it in dividends.
...and VZ doesn't get a divy either. VOD has decent FCF besides VZW, but VZ? Not. VOD doesn't have to sell and still builds value as VZW divy withheld just makes VZW worth that much more. So what leverage does VZ have and why does VOD really need to sell? With dirt cheap financing and currently high PPS for VZ, the pressure is on for VZ to cut a deal before financing costs rise. Unemployment rate is headed for the Fed's benchmark rate and then they pull the plug on articially cheap money. The real pressure is on VZ to get a deal done as VOD is just fine staying as 45% owner even without a dividend. Idiots at VZ looking to cut off their nose to spite their face with the divy threat. Stupid tactic.
Just think if Ray Smith did his job we would not have a VOD problem. The BOD gave Ray big bucks for running up the stock. He lost the early take over of wire less then set up a dual CEO deal with Chuckles and Ivan. Ivan low balled an offer to VOD after he had a chance to do a deal when VOD was hurting for cash. Now we have the new Guy doing a low ball offer. All that is happening now, as in the past, we are making CEO's rich while the BOD fiddles
