    Maybe positioning itself

Since all hoopla has died down with Verizon buying Vodaphone and buying in Canada, it could be that VZ is quietly positioning itself, paying down debt and repositioning its cash flow for something in 2014. Who knows maybe a VOD purchase will come next year.

    Sentiment: Hold

    • Interesting volume today !!
Vz's average volume is almost 11 mil. .. today's session is only 6.7 mil, and is up nicely ....

    • Shorts clearly got control yesterday. I think VZ will end up in Canada early in 2014. Vodaphone ship may have sailed as interest rates start going up and the financing gets a lot more expensive. I think purchasing VOD depends a lot more on how VOD does over the next 12 months. The better they do, the less likely a buyout will take place.

      Sentiment: Buy

      • Agreed,..... maybe the Vod deal is over due to interest rates. But if VZ were to stop paying VOD a dividend so they could plow that money into system upgrades, it might force VOD to negotiate at better terms. I remember seeing that when VZ wireless upgraded their network VZ did not pay a Wireless div until the debt for the upgrade was paid off. Do that for a couple of quarters and you might see some sort of agreement. I think the situation with data will be taking up VZ time and effort for the next 6 months.

        Sentiment: Hold

    • for now , it looks as though they are getting behind FIOS .. if you can grow by acquisitions , it's time pump
organic growth .... not too shabby that VZ can continue CBS rebroadcasts and TWC can't .... nice timing ...g
