Republicans Will ALWAYS Be Blamed for Government Shutdowns...

When I was a kid, me and my siblings would often beg and chide my mom to go shopping to buy cool stuff.

It always seemed that just when she was about to relent, and reach for the family credit card, my danm DAD would step in and start questioning whether or not we could afford it.

Needless to say, my dad was always the most un-popular guy in the room at those times.

Sure, we as a country would like to keep partying on with entitlements like Greece has over the decades. It's great to run up the national debt and hand out health care and 99 week extensions of un-employment benefits like so much candy and cake.

And, when somebody says "wait a minute", and starts talking about shutting DOWN the candy and cake and starts questioning whether or not we want to end up bankrupt like Greece with our $trillion dollar deficits and our $trillion dollar expansions of the fed's QE3 balance sheet......

.... of COURSE that somebody is going to be the most un-popular guy in the debate.

So yes, Mr. Boehner... thank's, for our kid's sake, for trying to hold us accountable... but we HATE YOU!!....

.... because we would rather party on!

      • Lets start with this one:

Last January, the Republicans allowed President Obama to raise taxes on the taxpayers of his choice. The Republicans received nothing in return for allowing that to happen.

I propose that we take amount of the total revenues that will be raised by that unilateral tax increase, divide it in half 50-50...

... and allow the Republicans in the house to enact spending cuts of their choice for one half of that amount... and allow the democrats in the Senate to enact spending cuts of their choice for the other half of that amount.

The result would be that each branch of government, and it's leaders, would have had a say in an equal amount of both tax increases and spending cuts.
