Every time I start thinking about moving some money out of this fund , we have a market pullback and my losses are minimal . I'm now thinking about putting all my assets into it , since I think I can live with a 7 percent return and sleep well . Be a bull or a bear but never a pig . Any thoughts ?
Yep I own this fund and a "LOT" more funds, but... From what I read in your posting and sleeping well; think about taking everything that you have in Vang. Wells Inc and dividing it equally between Vanguard Wellesley Income and Vanguard Wellington... Then you will have a 50/50% balance between equities and bonds... Then, shut off the TV, and sleep very WELL!
Yep, I know; I've been around a long time...
GELT,I agres, I have most of my money in Vanguard Wellesley, Vanguard Wellington, and some in Vanguard GNMA and it has done well over the last 10 years.
I intend to sell the rest of my assets and by these.....
No, no, no, and another NO! This is a great fund, but do not put all into one fund; LEARN ABOUT ASSET ALLOCATION... Been in this business a long time: DO NOT PUT ALL YOUR EGGS INTO ONE BASKET! Spread it out between 4-5 funds, all "quality" diversified, and then sit back and turn off your TV and do not second guess yourself... GOT IT?
I recently bought into this fund and so far am pleased with the results. I also own a strong position in Pimco PTTRX. As a retired person, I am looking for wealth preservation with a stream of income. This has given me a good balance regardless on the market performance.
I agree, have owned it for years and when I was a RIA I used it for my clients.Look at its 30 year returns on Yahoo finance and you will see that it is consistent performer with few negative years always followed by excellent ones.
This is just a great buy and hold fund. But, I wouldn't suggest it, or any fund, as an entire portfolio. I hold other funds--Vanguard and other managers. This is performing well now, but I anticipate that conditions will change and other investment styles will have their days.
