let's open a discussion on clockspeed

which one is better: Intels P4 at 3.2ghz, or their slower Centrino, or their Super slow Itanium 2.........if speed counts, why not question Intels lower clock speeds........

        -------------------------------------

Lets see, we know the P4 is great at streaming video, as long as the software is optimised for SSE2 .

We know the Centrino platform is as fast on most anything else the P4 does but uses less power to do it.

We also know the Itanium is 64 bits but sucks at everything else.

Looking over the general attributes Intel has given three seperate products, its easy to see why everyone who has tried the Opteron, loves the Opteron.
        (And soon Athlon64)

It will utilize SSE2 to be as fast as a P4 on streaming video.

It runs at a higher IPC and lower clockspeed like the Pm (Centrino), using less power.

It runs 32 bits as well as it runs 64 bits.

A customer can either buy THREE Intel products, or ONE AMD product.

      • Which is better, a company which barely meets lowered expectations and has a eps of only 2 with 1 being the lowest or a company that substantially beat earnings and has a eps of 80 with 100 being the highhest?

        And how about p/e ratio?

        HELLO????

why does it matter.....speed is all that matters; just ask the bashers; they made it very clear when judging AMD's performance
