Now that the smoke has cleared, we are speaking of Dunnington Intels 100% server chip. Dunnington is based upon Penryn, 3 dual cores offered on a multi core chip, together they offer a dual slot server system 12 cores with 2(3 MBs x 3) 9MBs of L2 cache with 16 MBs of total L3 cache giving Dunnington not much need to go to system Ram in the first place although the FSB is running at an outstanding 1333 MHz with large amount of memory supported. Intel is out to take HPC away from AMD
This is not your common $200 Barcelona but a entire 4 slot Barcelona system in a dual slot server.
LOL AMD is telling Intel they cant compete now that is a funny one! Best laugh of the day. Intel has so many chips in teh pipeline AMD has to be shitting bricks! Watch what launced in 2009/2010 you may be in for a surprise from the 800lb gorilla!
Randy Allen, wasn't he the AMD EX. that said, in so many words, "I wish we had done as INTC did and just glued 2 dual cores together to get to quad core sooner" Now he is running the same line as before claiming INTC is simply sticking together 3 duals to get a 6 core.
History just hasn't taught AMD anything!
Remember all the SCORN from the AMD fans on this board about the GLUE job? INTC killed AMD with that one and will do it again.
