"AMD has finally admitted that Intel was right when it came to the SOI manufacturing process."
"Now it seems that AMD has to admit that Intel was right and it will not use SOI wafers for the 28nm node.
Thomas Seifert, AMD's CFO, told Electronics Weekly that on 28nm, all of its products will be bulk and there is no room for SOI processes."
I recall many posts by cove3a and other AMD supporters of the virtues of SOI, IBM's process, and so on.
It's a shame :)
I recall many posts by cove3a and other AMD supporters of the virtues of SOI, IBM's process, and so on.>>>
1. All my posts on SOI dealt with refuting Ace's claim that SOI wouldn't work at 65nm and lower due to leakage problems.
2. AMD has not said there will be no SOI at 22nm. Only that there will be no 28nm SOI.
Let's get real.
There's no business or technology initiative in AMD history about which AMD hasn't ultimately had to concede error and defeat.
Dresden good! Oh, wait. Fab bad!
Buy ATI for $5 billion good! Oh, wait. AMD including ATI now worth what AMD paid for ATI alone. That bad!
Get into flash memory business good! Oh, wait. Flash memory bad!
And the list of failed initiatives and strategies goes on and on.
AMD is truly a Clown Company.
