"After working for several years, AMD was in turbulence and CEO got fired. After that, a new CEO came and started to meet and greet the employees. Everybody was so curious about the new CEO. We went to meeting room with a high expectation and hope. Everything looked great until he came up to the stage.
At the beginning, CEO talked about his optimism with AMD. He tried to boost up our spirit with all of buzzwords that can be mentioned. And then... a weird thing happened. He jumped around after talking like a cheerleader. I was thinking.. shooott.. what was that?? We were talking about microprocessor, not selling a cupcake. I was like Okay.. something looked crazy...
He talked about execution and low power. The magic word is low power... I don't know what kind of spell he learned from the previous company, he repeated that word many times like a broken tape player. He was new, so I gave him benefit of doubt. Yeah.. he might just learn these new things and needed some adjustments.
Okay.. now fast forward...
Recently, I read how AMD is in a big trouble. Stock price dropped to $2 from $7 when he just joint. I couldn't believe it could happen. Poor AMD... it happened when AMD hired a sales person instead people who knows the technology. Fortunately I moved to another company before this thing happened. I saw the writing on the wall a few months before a big layoff. What happened with AMD? Does the low power mantra not work like CEO wants? repeat after me, low power 100x... voila.. nothing happened"
