I say that because that's my experience with AMD graphics cards. I see no reason why putting them into a console will change that. Just look at the problems the 360 had with the dreaded "blue ring of death." This will no doubt put pressure on margins as recalls and returns are made.
I have 3 high end AMD graphics cards running on my pcs and also powers my Linux graphics dual screen. Never had an issue with any of them and my kids play games like crazy. The only time I have replaced them is because they get old and the new one give more screens per second.
What's your motive, with your "blue ring of death"? Let me guess, you shorted AMD to zero, betting it would go bankrupt.
I don't trust analysts, let alone some person implying ALTRUISTIC motives on an INVESTMENT forum, pretending unselfishness by warning us all of future "losses".
I can give you a quick reason why your thinking is off here. The reason you have had a bad experience in the past is because PC software isn't written specifically for one piece of hardware, it's written generically on all hardware, and while in a perfect world that would be just great, it doesn't really work that way. Consoles on the other hand are only specific hardware. So the code can be sure to work the same on every xbox/ps4. this is the real reason we have consoles in the first place. Also you can be sure that Microsoft learned from the Red Ring of Death, the have a habit of not repeating mistakes. Your comparison toward AMD is not a fair one.
Well, drivers can't fix hardware problems. Admittedly, it is sometimes hard to distinguish between the two. But, the problems I've had with AMD cards revolved around overheating, even with adequate ventilation, they did not perform as well as its NVDA equivalent.
So, I got the color wrong? So #$%$ what? It has nothing to do with my point and demonstrates clearly that you having nothing to debate it with or you would debate the meat of my post and not argue trivialities.
lol "Blue Ring of Death" HAHAHAA....
I've had the "RED Ring of Death" but I got the first shipment of the system, I fixed it though and still use it. Also the errors slowed down and eventually stopped in the later shipments of the Xbox 360 and the Xbox Slim.
Listen son.. .the bugs are out... the Jaguar 8 core will not heat up like crazy like to Power PC chip that was in it before. Due to all the fail rates MS had that is why they are going to lower wattage APU... listen and learn.. there will be less fail rates and bugs as you are eluding to.
