    • Pess keeps harping on past history repeating itself over and over again. Well, in the past year, there is absolutely no definitive patter from AMD. It looks like his "history" is the last quarter ER...

      1/22: close at $2.45
1/23: gap up to $2.62. close at $2.73

      4/18: close at $2.51
      4/19: open at $2.44. close at $2.47

      7/18: close at $4.64
7/19: gap way down to $3.99. Close at $4.03

Current history doesn't tell us much as he'd like it to. While I'm not going to gamble on the big post earnings spike, my guess is that there's a decent enough chance this gaps up in the A.M. Really will depend a lot on how the stock fares in the next few days.

      • Wall Street analysts are letting their emotions from the past affect their understanding of the future

In talking to many of the Wall Street sell side analysts, I found they were letting their emotions about the past performance of AMD affect their judgments about the future. Many Wall Street analysts had forecast that AMD would report net losses for the third quarter going into the 2nd quarter conference call. So, it made zero sense that these same analysts downgraded AMD after learning the company was forecasting profitability for Q3. These analysts used the excuse that AMD's gross margins would be down a few percent in Q3 over Q2, instead of focusing on what really matters, the actual bottom line.

        Sentiment: Strong Buy

That's what "shorts" do. They use rearview mirrors as their tool

        They have no vision

    • Yo pess, considering cashing out and buying back in after the gap down. Do you think it's worth cashing out if I haven't yet held the shares for at least a year and a day?

    • This is one of the only semi-scientific thread you posted so far.
