The suits in suite 800 just don't get it, but the street valuation of HVT does!
A new agency on board, BUT the problem is the overall merchandising strategy has been far less than than the standard set by the nationwide competition. Just what has the merchanidsing team been doing? Surely no serious probing of design trends that are working for other retailers. To be sure there has been a vast improvement in the upholstery category and bedrooms;dining have been edited to the tailored look that the 21st century trends have been.
But, the childrens, kids, youth, is so far behind what Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel and Restoration Hardware is merchandising. Seriously, WHY don't you do a real sitdown with staff at your key locations. They will tell you, the public loves Pottery Barn, but looks to Haverty's to do the look at a lower price. If you look at best sellers, it is clear that the clean look sells in upholstery, and with a wide selection of fabrics and frames...great. But when that customer seeks to do a youth bedroom, they just look in vain for a wider selection and leave.
It has been more than just a lost season or two, it's been a few LOST YEARS..just when is Haverty's going to get with the mainstream trends?
Spend some time watching HGTV, and other cable home design channels and weekly series...PLEASE for your sake and that of your selling staff and shareholders!
