Lowes new plan to cheat employees out of their vacations is the worst. This outfit does not give their employees yearly reviews, and the raises are horible usually 1.4%. Morale is non-existant. We reacently had a galloup survey they forced the employees to complete it with constant goading. Results were so poor reguarding training, opportunities, recognition, and job satisfaction that the only information they released was 95% employee participation in the survey.

New vacation scam is as follows now reguardless of years of service you must earn your vacation daily. You will acruee you time between 2/1/03 and 1/31/04. You must use it or lose it by 2/1/04.
since no one has earned any vacation reguardless of your years of service they will loan you 40 hours to start but if you leave the company you have to give it back. If you want to take 2 weeks before may you cannot because the most you can borrow is 40 hours.
this plan would work great in russia but this is the usa. I can't wait for the folks in new jersey and new york to get a wiff of these

There are too many positives in the company to be dealing with so much negative on one issue or two. You have come to assume the attitude of someone who beleives "Lowes owes".....They are still a great company and when you receive the 350% of base in your retirement account then apply that to your raise % and you should appologize!!...Where else would you get that kind of money???....kmart, depot????....NOT!!!!...Get an attitude adjustment!!!
Do everyone a favor and go to work for HD. Your atttitude would fit in just fine there. As far as "cheating" you out of vacation, that is just pure crap. There is no difference in this year's plan versus last year if you stay with the company. The new plan is the same as almost every other company in retail. By the way, with your attitude I can tell you 1.4% is way too generous of a raise. as far as predictions, I predict your ass will be in the unemployment line well before LOW is "resting next to KM".

I work at Lowe's and have no problem with the company's smart move to add to the bottom line. Which adds to yearly gains, which adds to matching contributions, which adds to increased wealth come retirement time.
So when I retire I won't be able to rip the company off for full vacation time for only working minimal time in the new fiscal year. The majority of dedicated employees that I know usually give days back every year anyway.

Here is the truth - nijja or toom toom has recently been fired. In the past he would have been able to get paid his 2 weeks of vacation even though he has worked a week or two in 2003. NOW HE WON'T.
