Chrysler relents, agrees to recall 2.7 million Jeeps

"Chrysler Group reversed course and agreed to a recall of 2.7 million Jeeps Tuesday, giving in to the government's request in the final hours before a deadline."

I'm surprised that no one mentioned this NHTSA recall

      Do you remember these Storys????
A Florida fire reportedly caused $200,000 damage to a couple's home.
A Smart car battery charger reportedly started a house fire on Monday night, according to officials. The blaze caused approximately $200,000 in damage to the owner’s house and garage, which is worth $500,000. The fire originated in the garage before traveling to the Estero, Florida home’s attic. Luckily, firefighters were able to stop the inferno before it spread to the rest of the three-bedroom home. No injuries were reported.
the jury will ultimately be out until Smart and the NHTSA investigates the fire. Stay tuned for more information as it continues to unfold.

Originally launched in America in 2008, Smart is an automotive branch of Daimler AG that specializes in microcars. There are currently four Smart ForTwo models available: the Pure Coupe, Passion Coupe, Passion Cabriolet and Electric Drive.

FYI. Daimler who was on(Probation for Bribery) helped the NHTSA investigate its own fire 10/10/12 .. in the ORIGANEL story the owner said it was a smart electric car.. the owners statement and original story quickly disappeared

The thing that troubles me, .. at about the same time.. BYD and Daimler were performing battery experiments.. Then comes the story of BYD Burning Taxi firey inferno killing-3 on 5/28/12 .. the story blaming batteries suddenly changed when Daimler was also allowed to assist Chinese officials in this investigation... blaming a fire with enough force to blow the legs off two women riding in the back seat on flammable Fabric used in the BYD Taxi .. BYD and Daimler temporarily took about 20 Taxi`s out of service.. did they swap out experimental batterys for standerd batteries ?? no BYD interior recall to date.. is daimler still selling these batteries??.. whare are the reporters???

    • If Chrysler had not agreed to act by the end of Tuesday, it faced the prospect of high-profile public hearings. There would have been testimony from both car safety advocates who have pushed for the recall, as well as the parents of children who burned to death in fires. Experts say the hearing would have caused Chrysler's reputation to take a hit, even if it had avoided the recall.

    • ""Chrysler Group recognizes that this matter has raised concerns for its customers and wants to take further steps, in coordination with NHTSA, to provide additional measures to supplement the safety of its vehicles," the company said.

In a statement, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which had asked for the recall, said it was pleased that "Chrysler has agreed to take action to protect its customers and the driving public." It went on to say that "consumers impacted by the safety recall and customer satisfaction campaign should have their vehicles serviced promptly once they receive notification from Chrysler."

Obviously ZAP has no concern for it's loyal customers
