    • GZ ,,,,I expect that this will still happen given the statements about supply constraints.

Hon Hai Precision Industries and Flexium Interconnect will keep certain production lines open during the Chinese New Year to keep up with demand

Two of Apple's Chinese manufacturing partners are said to be foregoing a traditional work stoppage during the important Chinese New Year in a bid to meet ongoing high demand for the iPhone 5 and iPad mini.

Hon Hai Precision Industries and Flexium Interconnect will keep certain production lines open during the Chinese New Year to keep up with demand for Apple's newest iDevices. For 2013, China's most important holiday will start on Feb. 10.

According to the publication, Hon Hai, better known as Foxconn, will be operating a number of iPhone and iPad mini assembly lines, while Flexium will keep its factory in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province staffed with "a large number" of trained student workers.

If true, the work continuation will mirror an identical decision made in 2011 by Apple manufacturing partner Pegatron, which reportedly offered employees triple pay to work over the Chinese New Year. No such bump in pay has been reported for 2013.

Workers that volunteer to work thru the holidays are paid triple time ..........

      • Overall revenue in China is up 67%.

Peter Oppenheimer mentioned that the company focused on establishing a new operating segment of Greater China, including Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan

"We have established a new operating segment for China, given the contribution of that region to our business," said Oppenheimer.

The company has adjusted how it reports revenue for separate geographic regions because of the significant sales of both hardware and software in China during the last couple of years. China was responsible for $6.8 billion of Apple's revenue during the last quarter. Overall revenue in China is up 67%.

    • GZ,, For Cirrus it's all about the amount of content and number of units they sell to Apple.
So this is just a speed bump the future for Cirrus is still great.
As Apple resolves some of their supply issues as well as launch new devices this year and beyond Cirrus will get the expanded revenue.

Highlighting a few items that were stated in today's call and prior from Apple leadership.

      --------------------------

Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook teased on Wednesday that his company has big plans for the rest of 2013, though he unsurprisingly declined to get into specifics.

Listen to the Apple conf call and hear what they have to say about large corp customers buying iPads in very large quantities,,, thousands of iPads at a time. This is all part of phasing out laptops/PC's

      -----------------
80 million to 90 million PCs that are being sold per quarter--tablets will surpass PC sales -Peter Oppenheimer
Far bigger opportunity here are the 80 million to 90 million PCs that are being sold per quarter, there’s still over 300 million PCs being bought per year, and I think a great number of those people would be much better of by an iPad or Mac, and so that’s the much bigger opportunity for Apple
      ----------------
"In terms of cannibalization, I see cannibalization as a huge opportunity for us. One, our base philosophy is to never fear cannibalization, if we do someone else will cannibalize it. We know that iPhone has cannibalized some iPod business, we know iPad will cannibalize some Mac, that doesn't worry us. On iPad in particular, we have the mother of all opportunities because the Windows market is much, much larger than the Mac market. It is clear that it is already cannibalizing some. I believe the tablet market will be larger than the PC market at some point, and I still believe that"

"We expect to spend about $10 billion in CapEx this fiscal year, up a little under $2 billion year-over-year. We expect to spend a little under $1 billion in retail stores. The other $9 billion is spent in a variety of areas. We're buying equipment that we will own that we will put in partner facilities. Our PRIMARY MOVTIVATION IS SUPPLY.

    • "With the iPad Mini, it's hard to know, we were constrained every week. Customers love the Mini and we wish we could have made more. We ended the quarter with significant backlog."
