Letterman was never in violation of the harassment policy, period.

Worldwide Pants sends its harassment policy to all employees every year. Worldwide Pants issued a statement today saying that Letterman has never violated the harassment policy, and no one has ever complained about that. Letterman is not a CBS employee, and neither are any of his staff. There are never been any complaints from the employees. The person associated with the alleged blackmailer described Letterman in an interview as the best boss in the world.

Haters can now move on. There's nothing here for you.

I don't agree one bit. In the work place "Boss" and "employee" aren't equals. Sex between them is never equal
even if "consentual". If CBS provides the venue they are also culpable. But regardless, what a low life hitting on his assistants. How does his wife (and mother of his out-of-wedlock son) with whom he has lived for many years feel having this dragged through the mud? How does it affect his kid? Has he no integrity at all? It must kill his mother to see what a classless creep he's become. No wonder American values are collapsing, when someone with is celebrity is so openly vile.

Facts are not subject to your agreement. True facts remain regardless of your uninformed opinion.

"In the work place "Boss" and "employee" aren't equals. Sex between them is never equal even if "consentual"."

I know it can be tough for an anonymous Yahoo ID to think. But do it. Think hard. Are you sure that staffers and interns who work at a nationally broadcast program in midtown manhattan don't have access to telephones, lawyers, the NYS Labor Dept, Oprah, Larry King and reporters who pay for stories at TMZ, the National Enquirer and Inside Edition if someone wrong actually happened? Thing hard, now...

"If CBS provides the venue they are also culpable."

That's truly idiotic. Not worthy of even an anonymous Yahoo ID.

"But regardless, what a low life hitting on his assistants."

You have no idea what you are talking about.

"How does his wife (and mother of his out-of-wedlock son) with whom he has lived for many years feel having this dragged through the mud?"

You know she did work on the show, right? Again, you have no idea what you are talking about.

"How does it affect his kid?"

Children are very perceptive. I'm sure the little guy pities the alleged extortionist/blackmailer.

"Has he no integrity at all?"

No one ever complained. No complaint means no offense. There was no offense and no violation of the Worldwide Pants harassment policy.

"It must kill his mother to see what a classless creep he's become."

You're behind the curve. Letterman already knows he's a little creepy, or he does a good job of pretending to be. It's been part of his schtick for the past 30 years.

You do realize there's only one reason that Letterman became a target of and alleged extortionist/blackmailer. Right?

It's the same reason that he and his wife and son became the target of a would-be (now convicted) kidnapper.

IT'S BECAUSE DAVID LETTERMAN HAS ENORMOUS AMOUNTS OF MONEY. IF HE WAS POOR OR MIDDLE CLASS OR MERELY SEMI-RICH, HE WOULD NOT BE A TARGET FOR BLACKMAIL. BUT THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS: LETTERMAN IS FILTHY RICH, WEALTHY. AND THAT MAKES HIM A TARGET. THAT'S WHY HE LIVES LIKE A HERMIT. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AND NOTHING ELSE.

Meanwhile, Letterman is out there with his name and his face on the line, and you, Mr. Anonymous Yahoo ID, are sitting home alone, tap, tap tapping away. Sad, don't you think?

Well said. He is scum. How sad to have people looking up to this creep. It speaks poorly of our values. Here's s guy who thinks he can just grab what he want when he wants regardless of the consequences. How many lives has he ruined - besides his own?

    • the fact that they didn't have a "policy in place" doesn't mean it wasn't sexual harrassment. Nor does it mean that World Wide Pants did everything to PROVIDE CERTAINTY OF A SEXUAL HARRASSMENT FREE WORK ENVIRONMENT!

Companies have such policies as a good faith effort to show that they have done everything to INSURE that WORKERS and MANAGEMENT/CAPITAL interests are aware of the importance of keeping the workplace FREE OF harrassment!

In this case.......the issue obviously was not a priority.....BECAUSE IT WAS INHERENTLY NOT A SEXUAL HARRASSMENT FREE ZONE ....AS PER LETTERMAN's admission!

keep defending the indefensible! I'll continue to stand up for the little people....the victims!

Let the victims come forward ...and we'll hear what they have to say!

      • You demand: "I'll continue to stand up for the little people....the victims! Let the victims come forward ...and we'll hear what they have to say!"

There are no victims, except David Letterman. And he went to the DA and testified before the grand jury.

No staffer or intern at Worldwide Pants has ever complained to anyone about anything, except maybe the occasional lack of salt in the yankee bean soup at the Hello Deli and the 15-degrees-lower-than-normal temperature inside the Ed Sullivan Theater. Reporters have been calling adn re-calling all current and former interns and staffers. No one had a single complaint or bad thing to say, because there was nothing to complain about. There can be no harassment without an accusation of same. Worldwide Pants distributes its sexual harassment policy to all staffers and interns each year. Copies of the policy are not hard to come by. And David Letterman was never in violation of the policy ... officially, definitively, conclusively. Let the NYS Labor Department investigate, if they want. They will find nothing except a happy loyal staff, one slightly unhappy but philosophical grin-and-bear-it victim/boss, and a very chilly Ed Sullivan Theater.

        That's show biz.
