I think most people believe it is only the dry bulk sector where bankruptcies will be seen over the next year or two. The tanker and LNG sectors seem better situated. So an obvious question is will NM benefit by this trend? I tend to think two factors will prevail:
1) NM will be stressed right along with the less healthy companies in the sector and be to weak to do much in the way of acquisitions.
2) The companies that go bankrupt are going to be reorganized, not broken up and parceled out to the survivors.
Those who have dangled the prospect of making a buck off the problems here have been acting out of bad motives. They have wanted to keep investors in the game as they waited for this long promised payoff. It is nothing more than a pipe dream.
