    positive sentiment?

Anyone else get the feeling sentiment towards NBR is changing fundamentally?
Even on etrade, the reports are pointing to neutral as a minimum. Upgrade today too, with a target raised $2 to $19.
Common sense tells me I should sell at $17.50 and take the loss with the aim of buying back at $15.
But the risk taker is telling me its turned a corner. Waiting 11 days is an eternity and this stock cann tank.

Of course the real kick in the teeth is that around $17, and suddenly the Board annouce lower than expected earnings. We've all been there with this driller run by Petrello and crooks. Minus the 2 recent board members.

    • Value Line has something nice to say-it will go to 30 and more .

    • What a worthless do-nothing stock/company this has been. Target raised to $19 What about those who bought several years ago at $30? Why would it be upgraded on the basis of a $2 target? It doesn't deserve a neutral rating. The best possible scenario would be for it to be bought out. But who would ever want it? With all the domestic NG shale plays going on, NBR still couldn't manage to do anything. This is a poorly run company with no prospects for improvement.

      Sentiment: Strong Sell

      • I expected this stock to remain subdued below $17 for an extended period of time. Yet it seems to have pulled itself back. Results weren't average...below if anything. Is it getting dragged in the Saudi drilling boom?

      • I agree, empirical. Other peers have simply outperformed. HAL AND ANADARKO being examples.
I've been thinking how this stock may move. I was hoping it would get to $20 and then I'd cut my losses. But not sure why it would get there by delivering growth....I agree that management don't seem to have the vision to grow the company...behind the curve. There does seem to be activity in reducing debt expenditure, which is positive in that ir makes the company attractive to buyers. They're selling assets...again to reduce servicing debt. But nothing points to growing revenues and improving margins. Sorry to say, but drilling on US land isn't a cash generator. Consecutive quarters have shown increased revenues internationally. This should have been spotted earlier. But the board or directors live in the here and now......cream the profits.

My positve thought is the reduction in debt could drive this stock to $26 to follow its peers. But stock upgrades, dividends, conviction buys, votes on board of directors........this stock is still deadbeat. Tough call. I think a low end value for this stock is $15. Shouldn't go below that with the assets, rev, state of debt. As emperical out is the only reason this deadbeat stock will rise.
        I wait patiently
