As an investor and subscriber of Netflix; I have the following to say:
Convict 762 is the stupidiest movie I have ever seen. I'm just glad I did not pay the $4.00 it would have cost me at the video store. On a more serious note I have seen a increase in the time of turnaround since I was moved to the Duluth, GA dc; this maybe attributable to the post office (I have seen a delay in a lot of other mail items); or it could be the working out of the distribution bugs. It has not been a large slowdown but it does concern me with the customer service aspect of this company. A downgrade in the service provided to existing customers is a sure way to lose those customers who have been with you the longest thereby nulling the increase in subscribers. Just a thought.
1. Don't have to bother driving to a rental store. 2. Has a wide variety of foreign films which often aren't available in rental stores. 3. Mail service is very convenient. 4. If I don't like the movie I'm watching, I can turn it off. I don't feel obligated to sit through it like I might be if I paid $5. 5. I have a 90" projection screen that gives the full theater experience without people interference, ie, talking, eating, etc. 6. I can put the movie on pause if I have to go to the toilet or get a snack. Example. I rented the 1952 version of "The Importance of being Ernest" so that I could compare it to the 2002 version. I could only force myself to watch about half because it was very mannered and dated. I was very glad to have sampled it so painlessly. I guess the two words that best summarize the way I feel as a consumer is that it offers CONVENIENCE and REASONABLE COST. The question you and other investors have to ask yourselves is, "Am I a typical potential consumer?"
Amen, just not having to drive to a rental store, and then drive back to return it - more hopefully late at night, or worse yet only to pay a late fee. With Netflix, rent it, if you watch it return, if you start to watch it and don't like - return it.
The point is rent and return without the hassle and no late charges.
It is the only way to go. Bless them and their stock.
