    VOD vs NFLX

i just concluded that VOD can NEVER be a threat to NFLX. as someone else stated, VOD is released more than a month after the DVD release. this is obviously so the production companies can squeeze out the DVD sales before "handing out" the content.

people will always want a hard copy of something as valuable as a movie or a game.

    • That's actually an excellent point.

There's no way that VOD will destroy NFLX because there's no way the movie industry would allow VOD to make DVDs obsolete. If VOD were to make NFLX obsolete, that implies the entire physical-media industry obsolete. And there's no way in hell that the studios or the other stakeholders would allow that to happen.

Even given technical solutions to all of the problems, the pushback from the studios and DVD industry will be such that physical DVDs will always offer competitive features and/or timing over VOD; at least for MANY years to come.

That never occurred to me before... good thinking.

Yet another reason that the shorts are wrong.
