Doen't anyone have ON DEMAND from cable? This seems to me like it will make the business model of NFLX and anyone entering this category obsolete. I mean in a few years, will movies not be available by just clicking a button and watching them right there on the TV.
Also, do people really watch 5 movies a month? This is not a cynical question, I am just wondering if people really rent 5 movies per month.
Keep in mind the netflix deal isn't 5 movies a month, it is five AT A TIME, as fast as you can watch them.
I was on the 5-plan for several months, but once the shipping center was local and turnaround time got so fast, I'd have to watch one every night (or more!) to keep up, so I only need the 3-plan now. Probably watch at least 2-3 a week now typically.
Yes. I have movies on demand through our cable company. It works great, but only handles semi new releases currently. There are about 25 movies to select from. The nice thing is that the movie is "rented" for 36 hours. So you can watch it then the kids can call their friends over and they can watch it. You can put it on hold, rewind, etc. Nice features. Runs 2.99 to 4.99 per movie.
Ever since signing up with Netflix, I've discovered that I don't watch TV in "channel-surf" mode anymore, since I have a supply of programming on-hand. It turns out that I actually spend less time in front of the television now.
