bad sign: earnings scheduled for a friday

great! I didnt buy in yet. This puppy goes down to $19 a share, as the market tumbles and when gas is $6 a gallon and everyone is staying home to save money, netflix will benefit. Hey, it might be soon considered a "defensive" growth stock. LOL I might buy in right before next earnings which is about when the market might catch a bounce. Expect netflix to get slaughtered as the market continues its decent unless earnings are blowout.

    • 66% of the float is short - any good news and the shorts will have a very hard time covering. It makes not one bit of difference as to the market trend. If the shorts have to cover, and the longs hold their positions, the market makers will have a difficult time making a market and the stock will shoot up.

I'm guessing you haven't been watching this stock very long. The shorts own this stock and they do what they want, when they want. The only thing that will make the shorts cover is long, sustained upward revisions to guidance and earnings. Unfortunatley for the longs, short squeezes are a thing of the past. They will cover, but on their own terms.

I'm not happy about it but I've watched this stock long enough to know better than to expect a short squeeze.
