like i've said for weeks...netflix is dead meat. cable tv operators OWN the pipes. netflix owns nothing just is a middle man

ironic that this content issue came up this morning because just yesterday, I was considering the apparent studio preference for blockbuster to distribute their content (the studios will own a lot of the new blockbuster company).
Anyway, does anyone know what the deal is with those blockbuster movies - they are actually marketed and rented out as BLOCKA movies..... I am guessing they are produced solely for rental and exclusively through BLOCKA???
I had watched a few of them a year or so ago and they were actually very good movies, e.g. Factory Girl.
Just wondering and trying to get a handle on how the new BLOCKA will effect NFLX - seems like their margins are going to end up razor thin.

There is a good chance that the studios will create their own streaming sites where the consumers can cut the middle man and go directly to them to watch the movie they want to watch. That will be cheaper for consumers and generate a lot more cash for the studios. In the past, the studios were somewhat dependent on the movie theaters, but that may change with technology and increasing bandwith.

You guys jsut dont get it. I went to the local movie theater here in NJ spending $50 for me & my 2 kids. I would gladly pay $25 to see a movie on my LCD with dolby sound in my home instead go going to the dirty sticky theater that pouches for pop corn.

Yep....they are looking at the target market w/more than 2 admissions for the $30 price point model.

Wow . I just can't wait to pay $30.00 to watch a late run movie on Comcast. If any nuts buy into this they have more money than brains Do you really think all of those unemployed will be watching in their sparetime? Netflix at $9.00 a month is affordable for the masses and this $30 idea is ridiculous.

My thoughts exactly when I read this. My family is fairly well off, we've been blessed, and we would never pay $30 or even $20 for a movie. Maybe a DVD of a big movie, but not a pay per view. No Threat.
