    Chartists Warning...Please read PartII

For those of you new to this thread who want to read the technical analysis for this sell recommendation here is a link to the original thread:

    http://messages.finance.yahoo.com/Stocks_%28A_to_Z%29/Stocks_N/threadview?m=tm&bn=22401&tid=325952&mid=-1&tof=10&rt=2&frt=2

For the record, I have a short position at 214.42 and again at 223.20. Strategy is to short in increments. The 2nd position I already took was at 2/23 gap level which was filled yesterday, Wed Mar 17. I would add again at the 2nd gap level 2/18 $229-231 (if it even gets there..highly unlikely but it would be nice) I would add again for my final short position at a breakdown level I'll detail when triggered. I always post my trades ahead of a move so you can follow along if you'd like to see the outcome.

All comments and intelligent arguments welcomed but serious replies only please.

Best of luck to all $$$

Four time bombs that will blowup Wall Street

Commentary: Too late to jail bank CEOs; only revolution will succeed

      By Paul B. Farrell, MarketWatch
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (MarketWatch) — PutGoldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein in jail for six months, and all this will stop, all over Wall Street and America, a former congressional aide tells Matt Taibbiin his latest Rolling Stone attack, “Why Isn’t Wall Streetin Jail? Financial crooks brought down the world’s economy — but the feds are doing more to protect them than to prosecute them.”
Taibbi’s right, everyone knows Wall Street’s run by a bunch of dictators who are doing more damage to democracy and capitalism thanNorth Africa’s dictators. But jail the CEOs of Goldman, Citi, B. of A. or my old firm Morgan Stanley? Too late.

      Where There's Smoke, There's Fraud
Sarbanes-Oxley has done little to curb corporate malfeasance. Therefore, CFOs should implement a range of fraud-prevention measures.
      Laton McCartney - CFO Magazine

As a convicted felon, Sam E. Antar, the former CFO for the now-defunct consumer-electronics chain Crazy Eddie, no doubt has regrets. Among them: he is no longer in the game at a time when corporate fraud is experiencing a resurgence. "If I were out of retirement today, I'd be bigger than Bernie Madoff," he boasts.

In conjunction with CEO Eddie Antar (his cousin), Sam Antar helped mastermind one of the largest corporate frauds in the 1980s, bilking investors and creditors out of hundreds of millions of dollars. Today, he makes a living lecturing about corporate fraud (and shorting the stocks of companies he thinks may have inflated earnings).

    • PS...I still can't find any posts where someone calls me that--as if I care---butmaybe I just have them on ignore.

Thanks again & sorry I misunderstood...

    • I'm not crusading---believe it or not.

So---predetermined by what (who)? Options at OPEX or the charts?? ;-)

      Or both?

Is there (or will there ever be) a time when stocks that are so heavily manipulated can defy the max pain bots?

If not, we just need to learn how to manipulate the manipulators.

    • No crusading required. Yhe close was predetermined on Tues.

Sometimes we don't need to be smack in the mix.

    • Good night everyone. Let's see if they try to pump this up anymore next week. Its nice to have options ex behind us.

have a great weekend. A beautiful day here in NYC 71 degrees so I am off!!

    • Got it...the max pain figure becomes a much more important consideration when we have a time limitation imposed on our decisions by expiration dates.

    • Problem is this would have me all over the place as a trader. So I stick to a strategy I have built and worked with reliably for years. I'm sure there is value in Max Pain and other strategies but just not something I follow.

    • Do you not even watch HFTs-ever?

While the charting is probably most useful for longer term direction, the consistent pinning of the pps to max pain at OPEX weeklies and monthlies is undeniably connected to the HFTs and MMs.

I think this is very relevant in the narrower time-frames & you can't discount the influence of HFTs within those ranges.

For example: I am expecting NFLX to close around $210 today since that pps (max pain) would cause the most options to expire worthless...so the MM's stand to gain the most by pinning it there. So far...it appears to be being held in that range.

That's not to say that it won't tank in AH...but based on what we're seeing at OPEX's, it is doubtful that the small retail investor/trader can expect it to close much lower or higher today.

Maybe I'm just a clueless little fluff-head, but it seems that - aside from fundamental quality - catalysts and news are what define the technicals---and the advantage of understanding (and correctly interpreting!) their relevance can help you get on the ride before it starts.

    • Well, thanks for that. I didn't realize because i didn't see anyone call me PandoraButt---it was folded into the many replies.

    • Yes I am utilitarian patrol. It's my thread. And that message was in response to that guy who called you Pandora Butt.
