Streaming is the FUTURE of DVD rental.

They killed BLOCKBUSTER in five years, why?

Because they can foresee the future.

DVD rental will be gone, only online streaming.

    CEO did the right move.

    Buy at panic selling.

    • You are forgetting about Channelstreamer.com which is about to launch as well as Amazon and Apple, and Microsoft and Skype for that matter. There's alot of competition on the horizon. They need to fix this quick and with the Flubbed campaign I'm proposing. If they wanted to contact me it's simple, find out the domain name owner of Channelstreamer before its too late. (If when I get home, and my wife trixie says I told you so, I'm gonna bop her right in the mouth - Edward Norton).

      :-)

    • Face it, movie rental is a low margin business. NFLX, like Blockbuster before them, is merely a distributor of content it doesn't own. It's a cutthroat business, regardless of whether you do it via bricks and mortar stores (blockbuster), via kiosks (blockbuster and coinstar) or via digital streaming (too many to mention, including Comcast for heaven's sake). The content owners will play the distributors off against one another until they've wrung all the profits out of the business, at which time they will create their own streaming capabilities (it's not that difficult). Once the old Comcast model of forcing bundles on consumers is finally laid to rest allowing consumers to purchase a la carte, there will be reason for a Disney to utilize an aggregator/distributor. They'll offer their content directly for rental as a subscription of for purchase on a one-at-a-time basis. The ultimate solution for any content producer is to completely cut out all middlemen.

    • DID YOU BUY THE CEO'S SHARES?

    • You missed your other " big one " LUCENT !

    • Lots of competition - cracker is great ans it's free, then there is hulu and hulu plus, red box, amazon, blockbuster, direct tv, comcast, satellite tv, just to name a few, and more coming.

    • better stop sniffing glue ....

    • paired with the fact that they will sell quickster quicker than you can say quickster

this one's about to reverse course, violently.

    • LOL yes because stock plummeting from $300 and customers leaving by the titanic load shows that he did the right move.

Streaming is only viable if the content owner allows the content to be streamed, right now movie studios are still limiting content.

If they ever allow all contents to be streamed, netflix isn't exclusive to that content.
