You gotta look at the bigger picture. And the bigger picture is that because Netflix is raising prices, they can cut better deals with distributors and production companies to the point in the future where the distributors and production companies will make more money streaming through Netflix which means that other production companies and distributors will want to cut a deal with Netflix. It's reminiscent of the deals Apple was cutting with studios. Dreamworks deal is only the tip of the iceberg. Since you brought Pixar up, I can imagine Netflix cutting a deal with Disney in the future. And why not if this is the future to be had? Personally I don't like cable companies and their monopolistic anti competitive ways.
Terrific, more content that nflx can add to their bloated list of offerings no one wants to see... again, or ever. Just because it's available doesn't make it desirable.
dreamworks deal, facebook integration, hastings surprise, microsoft alliance, what have I forgotten? These guys run the pump-and-dump with the best of them.
Could be a good content add. Because of nflx precarious financial position they are in a catch 22. Content adds are essential to their business but only if they can materially boost new subscribership. If it doesnt, its just another albatross.
Perhaps at this point anything to change the news stream is good for nflx, if only for a short while.
