    shorting seriuos question

The average short trader makes very little money. It's a losing gamble.

    • Actually the average long investor loses more. They get their information from message boards or locker rooms. Stocks are only supposed to go up. Then when their $3 stock files and puts a Q at the end of its call letters, they come on boards like these and moan how the game is rigged.
NEWS FLASH The game is rigged! Most shorts know how to play it.
You also have to have a higher level of income and trading expertise to short stock, and it can't be done in qualified accounts or on truly cheap stocks. Any idiot can go long in RSH or CNXT collect no dividends, watch no stock buybacks and sit there waiting. Their brokerage fees end up more than the equity in their account. Yet they are convinced they are Yogi, and "Smarter than the average Bear".
