Yahoo! message boards aren't good therapy, which you might actually need.
The stock market is a lot like gambling where the power of greed to make you stupid is strong. It is obvious that your confidence that Netflix would do worse than already bad street estimates was way, way too high.
2 tips:
NEVER invest more than you are willing to lose.
NEVER trade before earnings.

I am really sad and crying. My bad luck. How stupid. I shorted this 5 minutes before the close. I never thought this would go up 40%. sad sad. Pretty much my life is ruined.

yea.....your life is not ruined, just learn not to put all your chips on earnings. try writing spreads where you know what you will lose worst case. anybody talking #$%$ to someone who lost money is either new to this or just a pos. i lost 25k in 5 days last year, it happens. dont look at the market for a couple weeks; look at what you did wrong. Money isnt everything. ill bet you never did what you did this time......i guess thats the upside. good luck

You should hedged it if you were making that much bet on this highly manipulated casino. Options were cheap. $115 Call Friday expiration was bout $2.00 by close; $0.50 in the morning. I made similar mistake on RIMM, but not that much. As another commenter said, if it was w/o margin, just leave it - after three months you will see GREEN on your short position.
