CBS (NYSE:CBS) has announced an iOS app that will allow users to stream full episodes of daytime and late-night shows within 24 hours of airing, while releasing primetime programs 8 days after their air times, reports Apple Insider.
The app, which will go live by the end of the Fall television season, allows users to interact through their Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS devices with an integrated social feed, plus live conversations with some of TV’s biggest stars.
Makes sense. Streaming is cheap, it's the content that cost money, so if you have the content it's not hard to get it on the internet for streaming (ala youtube for example). This will be the problem for Netflix as they have to buy the content. They will also have to structure something for "pay per view" if they want to stream new movie releases which might kill the business model.
