yes, the smaller operators just don't have enough scale to fight it out with national exposure. the drivers are attracted to the reward/point systems,volume fuel discounts,prime locations which makes easy and safe ingress and egress. The list can go on and on. And TA can continue ramping up with more and more locations without having to add more back office staff. It is razor this margins so it is a revenue game.And TA has the revenue!
Having more fuel efficient trucks would actually be better for the trucking industry to keep transportation cost low and take business away from rail. IMO the margin will continue to get improved in coming Qs and it will remain the main target of the management. We definitly do have the sales volume. As the economy get better the volume and margin will continue to climb as the smaller competition is pushed out of business and can not compete with luxuries offered with the likes of TA.
