I've received a statement from my broker that indicates i have sold 509 shares of cxw pfd stock. since they bought it back from me, i don't know what the original price was. does anyone have any idea for tax purposes.
Please refer to the information for each and multiply the number of shares you received for each issuance and add that up for your total cost basis (cost basis/tax basis on the attached are the same). The amount reported on the 1099-B is the proceeds from the redemption the difference between those two amounts are your capital gains.
I also received 4 attachments, which I'll post here, but can email also to you if you want. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and include CXW Docs in the subject.
Original Distribution in September 2000 5% distribution, for every 100 shares of PZN common stock held on the record date, the shareholder received 5 shares of Series B Preferred. Cost basis: $18.00 per share
Final Distribution in November 2000 1% distribution, for every 100 shares of PZN common stock held on the record date, the shareholder received 1 share of Series B Preferred. Cost basis: $12.81 per share
Cost basis for dividends, please see other attachments.
I'm looking for this info also. I know I received some shares at the end of Sept., 2000 and the stated value of those shares was $19.00/share. I periodically received additional CXWB shares, but haven't been able to find a stated value for them.
Also searched online for info of shares of CXWB, but I guess since those shares have all been called, the stock no longer exists as the symbol comes up as invalid.
I emailed CXW investor relations yesterday and asked if they had a chart online, but haven't heard back yet.
If anyone has any info of the value of CXWB shares (site w/historical price chart, stated value for a specific month and year, etc.) please post it here.
P.S. I'll post what I hear from investor relations (if I do hear back).
As the General recalls, the preferred stock's basis may depend on when you received whatever amount of those 509 Series B preferred shares. That info should be contained in archived press releases on the company's web site. Or you might contact IR (Karin Demler) for help in obtaining that info.
