Front page story from yesterday's U-T:

      http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/state/20061119-9999-1n19ariz.html

If you were to merely extrapolate the 92,000 inmates that presently exceed the design capacity of Californicate's prison system and multiply that by the supposedly $11,000+ per inmate's annual incarceration cost savings ($34,000 < $23,000) per the contracts with CXW & GEO, it could (mathematically) reduce the cost to Californicate's taxpayers by > $1 billion.

But if we did that, where would the CCOU get the resources to contribute $2 billion to a gubernatorial candidate,? as they did for Gray Davis' last election campaign (prior to his recall). You can't do that. It could undermine the entire public-employees' political campaign finance system. And that would be unAmerican.

And, of course, if (hypothetically) CXW & GEO were to split the housing of Californicate's "overcrowding" element of its inmate population between them, that would translate to > $1 billion in annual revenues each (92,000 2 = 46,000 x $23,000 = $1,058,000,000).

Too bad we can't clone Florence, AZ's Mayor Tom Rankin and run him and his clones for the legislature in Sacramento. About 15 clones in the assembly and half that many in the senate should do the job.
