  • Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

If this were true there would be no one working on Wall Street.

By the way......since when is it moral for prisons to be run for profit?

    • Actually, various denominations, including Catholic, Methodist, Episcopal, Presbyterian, United Church of Christ, Society of Friends (Quakers), Mennonites, etc., have condemned for-profit prisons.

    • What CXW should do is provide a way for these criminals to repay society. I would suggest prisoners be offered a chance to run in a treadmill for exercise which is connected to a generator and the grid to produce electricity. No more expensive gym equipment. As a reward of this choice they would be better fed and given access to a tv. Also give them a locker for their bedding and personal gear so they could alternate cell space. Cell for 12 hours/locker for 12 hours.Allows for twice the inmates.

    • Profitable prisons are likely a tax saving measure for honest citizens. States and feds can't run anything economically. Private firms can sometimes do a better job. If we can't use capital punishment on habitual criminals, we have to waste our money on their worthless souls. At least with privitization, we can save some money to spend on honest, good people's care.
