I am an avid investor, however, there are certain companies I will never invest in. CCA is one of them. Just thu DD, one can easily surmise that this company is not worth it.
My nephew is in their Leavenworth KS. site. His crime, drugs. His punishment,he had to lobby to get vitamins in their store, then they were crumbled, expired and worthless. Very poor food! "Slop" as he calls it. He eats mainly from their store. Crackers, etc. sometimes he don't see sunlight for days. The list goes on.
I hope none of you end up in a facility like that. What an irony if you did?
I can't ever seeing me make money from the misery of others....if more people would invest in social equity we could have a better nation. IMHO
Pax World Funds has some very nice selections for you. I like the Balanced World Fund, and the High Yield Bond Fund....low deposit of $250, monthly reinvested dividends, minimum monthly payment of $50 , if desired....they even pay for your return stamp...www.paxworld.com
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
My state (Michigan), and many other states already spend more on correctional facilities than they do on their education systems. We spend too much money as it is on these a**holes who murder and sell drugs. Apparently life in prison isn't bad enough to discourage recidivism, seeing as how 2/3 of those incarcerated will wind up back in prison .
I agree choosing another investment would have been wiser. Usually the "crime" of drugs just doesn't happen. Mostly it boils down to either trying to get rich the fast way by selling or developing an addiction while using drugs to deal with other problems. Either way prison is often the end result.
Is there really any difference in using your tax dollars to pay for state incarceration or for the state to use those same tax dollars to pay a private prison contractor?
