Normally, the Detail Quote for a stock would tell you what you wanted to know insofar as the most recent dividend payment is concerned, regardless of whether that dividend was in the form of a cash dividend or a stock dividend (split).
Unfortunately, because of the recent merger and name change (Prison Realty Corp., nee CCA Prison Realty Trust), it will take Yahoo some weeks to bring PZN's Detail Quote site up to speed.
If you look at it now, you'll note that, along the right border of the statistical presentation as well as its lower right hand corner, you'll see spaces labelled, Div Date, Ex-Div, Div/Shr, and Yield.
Right now, they're just saying that the data is N/A (Not Available).
If it was up to speed, the Detail Quote site would inform you of the MOST CURRENT declaration, as soon as it's been publicly announced, so rather than it telling you the last one that's been paid, it would tell you the next one THAT'S BEEN DECLARED.
In the absence of the site's "currency", if you go to the stock's News page, you can scan back in time and find the most recent dividend declaration's announcement, which, in the case of PZN, was 12/09/98. It is recent enough that you will find it at the bottom of the news items appearing below the Detail Quote's statistical data, so you don't even have to go to PZN's News page. Of course, since it is at the bottom, the next news item about PZN that's released, will knock it off the Detail Quote page and consign it to the archival News page.
The 12/09/98 press release will tell you that RP's memory isn't too shabby. The Record Date for the $0.48 dividend declared was 12/20/98 and it was paid on 12/31/98.
Investment, that shows PAN is the top pick for 1999 by an analyst at Wheat First Union. He says investors to receive "more than $5 per share in dividends over the next 12 months, primarily due to special dividends from its merger with CCA." Also has price target of 43 and estimates 1999 FFO at $2.88. What do you guys who know this company think?
