    Technical Analysis

    pjv:

I have had very good results with technical analysis in determining past price movements of individual stocks or indexes. In fact, technical analysis is almost foolproof in relation to the past. Works for me.

    Give it a try.

    • Excellent point. I just read Barton Biggs' book, he has a picture of an empirical "average mania curve" that has been honed to fit the 2000 bubble very well, only 5 years after the fact.

      • Following is an excerpt from a market letter,InterMarket Update by Pring Research printed in Barron's, February 20, 2006.

"Feb. 15: Tuesday's action [when the Dow rose above 11,000], on expanding volume, suggests there is a good chance that the final rally of this bull market may well be under way. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was threatening to complete a "butterfly" head and shoulders top. Butterflies develop when the neckline forms a pair of wings...However, the index is now above the right shoulder and this could well indicate that the pattern will fail."

My advice is that you should take the above technical analysis for what it is worth and act accordingly.

Will your broker accept orders relating to five years ago. Mine will not. They will not accept orders that go back more than two years.
