pj:
What do you you think of the trading volume and number of trades today?
Would you believe that it was my trade? I am tempted to tell you that it was me making a small purchase, sort of pilot position while I decide whether I want to establish a "real" position in ITIC.
Of course, you would know I was not telling the truth, if, in fact, it was you who bought the 61,000 shares.
pmlljl,
I've warned the bear many times to have the polar-bear-growl-and-snarl recognition software recalibrated and must sneak into his account to see whether the software interpreted his growl to buy sixty-one shares as a growl to buy or perhaps even a snarl to sell short sixty-one thousand shares. I'll make him sit out of square-dancing on Thursday.
Massive volume. It is quite curious.
Debaser8, are you the 61k-share buyer? This is like playing Clue!
Maybe astral_tsar decided to begin buying on the way up from the recent low of 35.50....
pmlljl,
The bear has often been bidding for ITIC shares at $35.00. He doesn't know whether doing so is a good idea. How much advice would your investment committee dispense to the bear for 10 penguins?
pj:
The committee meets infrequently and has many other things on its agenda. I will have to ask them about their immediate needs for penguins. I do not believe any of them have their own polar bears so they may request cold, hard cash instead. My guess is that they would think $30 to $35 is a good price.
pmlljl,
Your committee doesn't have ANY polar bears? Were you careless in screening the members?
pj:
I was aiming for my committee to have sort of a tropical feel rather than an icecap polar orientation. Persecute me if you must, but I am a warm weather kind of guy.
pmlljl,
To increase the likelihood of your joining the fellowship of ITIC shareholders (if you are not yet a member) at a good price, I have put a temporary muzzle on the bear so that he cannot growl or snarl above $32.11. (Recall that one growl means buy, two growls mean sell, and snarl means sell short.) Believe me when I say that application of the muzzle to his mouth was exciting.
pmlljl,
We can always hope that ITIC will buy back disgruntled policyholders' tropical real estate and commence a snake dividend.
pj:
The committee will be having its annual meeting at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Honolulu on December 28. In keeping with the committee's tropical theme, we will be decked out in Hawaiian shirts and leis and have our meeting after the luau and several rounds of mai tais. The investment committee will discuss the merits of ITIC vis-a-vis the merits of Dole and its pinapples and bananas. If you and the polar bear would care to join us, perhaps you could hitch a ride with Santa on his open sleigh at thirty thousand feet. That way the polar bear wouldn't overheat.
pmlljl,
The bear wants to know whether he can square dance with your committee if he comes to the meeting. If I were you, I'd tell him no to discourage him because the first thing he'll do after bounding from the sleigh is to drink all your committee's mai tais--and eat their leis since they won't have any penguins for him. Then he'll hula dance until the committee agrees that you'll vote any ITIC shares that you buy for a penguin dividend increase.
