Has anyone seen the new filings. Lots of new holders. Some very savy biotech funds. Besides FMR, RA Capital, Ayer Capital; we now also have Deer VII, Broadfin, Baker Bros, TFS CApital. Many multibillion dollar funds ready to add. Like that Baker Bros is a fundamental long healthcare fund that takes concentrated positions. Should be a great 2013 if the events line up properly....=)
Baker Bros...... interesting, they took a large stake in the company bozo now claims he has been recommending - PCYC..... their basis is around $2.00. Baker Bros. also had a big stake in Pharmasset, which they purchased around $5.00 in 2007. Pharmasset was purchased by Gilead for $137.00 per share about two years later. Hmmm.....Gilead. Thats a name that has come up a few times on this board.
Yeah multibillion dollar funds that are dedicated to healthcare do not initiate $1-2MM positions and leave them they will continue to add. Not worth their time to take small positions since they will not generate any alpha or returns above mkt rate. Baker Bros likes to have $10-$20MM positions - this is how they generate otperformance. Look for multibillon dollar funds to continue to add as we get closer to big events...=)
