    Perhaps shame on me

for believing that the FDA really does want drugs to be marketed that safely and effectively treat unmet medical conditions, but I do really do believe that they do. That said, it was interesting reading Checks post from last night that involved a person that took placebo during the trial to no avail, only to become better quickly after entering the extension arm of the study. NTM has no approved treatments, but there is a treatment. Unfortunately, according to Lewis at the Needham conference, only about half of those afflicted can tolerate the treatment. Combine that with the fact that a quarter of the most hard to treat patients got better during the trial sure makes me feel that NTM patients should be booking a bus to Washington if the FDA fails to let arikace be made available to them. Some here may remember that ALS patients threatened that before the FDA allowed them to get access to iPLEX via the Ind route.
