1. Sell nat gas. All of it. Throw in your LNG projects, too. You can bring in enough to pay off all of your debt.
2. Get out of Suriname, Venezuela, and any other international projects where you don't have current production.
They still need to strike better bargains to contain drilling costs. There was an Investopedia article yesterday citing APA paying HERO a top day rate to rent a second-hand rig.
On a positive note, in case you missed it, Bloomberg reported this morning Argentina just upped the rate it will pay natural gas producers from $2.50 per MBTU to $7.50 to encourage more drilling. APA has just 3.9% market share, though.
Nat gas is an albatross around our neck. The point is to get out of debt and starting paying excess cash to shareholders asap. Become a cash machine and line investors' pockets with the cash. That's the way.
