    Earnings question!!

Okay, here is an “odd” but fun question for all of you SWKS “experts” out there. Last Thursday, SWKS re-iterated that their guidance was going to be on the high end of their report range for the quarter. Then, the stock got punished. The street wanted more. Here is the question: What would on the guidance, or how much better do you think SWKS needed to have either a flat day last Thursday or maybe up to a 5% pop. How about an 18% increase instead of the 18% decrease?

    • My take is that SWKS did say what was needed to keep the stock flat or move up some ... the analysts just missed the big picture ! EPS going from $2 to $3 in 12 - 18 months with 25% sales growth and 20% increase in margins.

    • I am not an expert with Skyworks or stocks in general, that is why I pick stocks like Skyworks for the a big cut in the tax rate for holding over a year. I don't think it would matter unless Skyworks said Dec would be 12 percent sequential growth from the Sept 420M.
Sometimes the market attacks a stock. Don't let it fool you though. Look at the 52 week low of $13.72 compared to the 52 week high of $31.44. Don't blink and try to be cute timing might skyrocket on you and you likely won't buy as it goes higher.
No rush to add here either. I am nibbling, but will wait a week or so before adding more meaningful shares.
The CEO just told you they are gaining share, the CFO just gave you their new financial model which has some exciting figures.
Finally, they said normal seasonality for Dec quarter is mid single digits and they will do slightly better. Now imagine if TQNT and RFMD forecast even sales...then all of a sudden the normal seasonailty is no more relevant and Skyworks is taking some lunches.
i am not saying TQNT or RFMD will be flat, I am saying we need to see if this years "normal" seasonailty is consistent with the prior years norm of mid single digits.
Wooh...need a Dogfish Head IPA after this post.

    • If that's your idea of a "fun" question, I'd hate to hear your idea of a boring question! lol
