WHX 10Q Released 3/15/13 - Watch for short term pull-back!

Whiting USA I released their 10Q / Annual Report for period to 12/31/12 on Friday. I'm long this stock with a medium term Bullish view, but now is the time to be very cautious until this 106 page document is digested. The highlights I've found so far are: producing ~63% oil/37% NG, all hedge contracts expired 12/31/12 with no renewals allowed, Production of 9.11 MMBOe limit is 74% complete, Trust termination still predicted by June 30, 2015 (Pg 10-11), Decline rate of 9-11% expected over the next 2 years (Pg 30), Wells Drilled in 2012: 5 oil, 3 gas and 3 in progress (Pg 49).

I ran out of steam trying to read the rest. So, while there could be a temporary short squeeze based on something in this report I haven't seen, it will be short-lived and followed by a crash back toward $4.00 before the usual climb to the next dividend. Remember, the next divi is still a full 2 months away. Be very careful and quick to react!

    Sentiment: Hold

    • Oil and gas prices historically have been volatile and may fluctuate widely in the future. The following table highlights these price trends by listing quarterly average NYMEX crude oil and natural gas prices for the periods indicated through September 30, 2012. The 2012 NPI distributions are mainly affected, however, by October 2011 through September 2012 oil prices and by September 2011 through August 2012 natural gas prices.

      crude oil 3/13: 93.45

      nat. gas 3/13: 3.427

to state crash back toward 4 (???) .
