Maybe a portion of the recent drop can be explained by the announcement that APU has purchased All Star. Buying the extra sales volume is always good, but I haven't been able to find details on financing. We opened down another dollar today. This is really getting old. Let's hope the weather turns cold in October and stays that way all winter.
I think this will be good move. AmeriGas has done well with purchasing Columbia, National, Petrolane and many others. They have also NOT made a purchase when other have because the price was too high or the else the company was poorly run. These guys play it safe but keep adding value each year. They aren't going to risk what they have to get something that may not be a good investment. Overall they have become the largest through acquisitions and continue to add other companies where it makes good economic sense. Go AmeriGas!
I agree that amerigas has done a good job of assimilating past acquisitions. However, this will be the real test. This is not a good company. Bad locations, margins, employment market to draw from, reputation, etc. You name it, you got it here. I hope the price takes this into account and this acquisition was not done just so they can show year to year volume growth. I understand they already let go all of the regional managers.
Regardless, this deal is so small you will never know how this shakes out in the grand scheme.
