Job elimination - not layoffs - New Technology reduces need for manual data input -
AmeriGas Supply & Logistics in Houston with the assistance of our Procurement and IT Departments has implemented new communications technology (Teletrac,Fleet Director) for our PTI transport fleet.
The technology enables PTI transport drivers to enter critical load information into the device which will be electronically transmitted, uploaded into the AmeriGas system and initiate an immediate email notification that provides the
ETA of the transport load and a Delivery Receipt Ticket directly to our district email exchange.
The Fuel Delivery Receipt will alleviate the need for retail to contact the Houston office to retrieve copies of a bill of lading for 3rd party invoicing and month end inventory closing. This new improvement in communications and documentation will allow our retail customers to access their email exchange to print off proof of deliveries for month end inventory closing at our districts, third party billing and the reconciliation of our fuel purchases in a quicker fashion. We see this process change as an improvement in customer service and it will provide substantial savings in operating costs.
Fleetwise sucks!!! It has cost amerigas a lot of retail and commerical accounts. It may be good for transport but for the retail side it costing the company. That is why they charge more per gallon than competors to try and maintain there margin and cutting back on work hours.
