Went to Six Flags NE on a Thursday (yesterday) and the place was packed. Had some impromptu conversations with employees who told me the place has been very busy lately. In part the weather was given as a reason and one even surmised that the perception that the economy is getting better is a reason. THe park was clean, employees helpful and friendly. all in all a good experience for my two young children. If the other parks are having similar success the company will see increased park attendance #'s and thus increased $$$$.
Dislosure: I own shares of PKS
Where does the stock go form here: on projected -5 cents a share earnings due out which is my prediction the company should trade at 5.50-5.75 range. On positive attenandance news or better earnings numbers look for 6-6.50 range.
Which park did you go to. Your experience was 180 degrees from my recent trip to a Six flags park. There were a lot of people at the park but the park was far from full on a Saturday. The park was a filthy mess. Several of the rides were not open and in need of repair. Several of the concession stands were also closed. There was a bob sled ride that was in use that had a HUGE chunk of fiberglass hanging off the track over the walkway to the ride above foot traffic. It appeared to me that not one brush stroke of new paint had bed used in a very long time and some of the wood around the park was rotted because of this. I hold no short or long position in PKS at this time but used to have many shares. Sad to see the park in such disrepair.
